Mother-in-law a Nightmare
Posted by sign in Tuesday, 21 April 2009 at 00:06 1 commentDay by day i am getting treated like a slave by them.Specially my mother in law always compares me with her daughter (Even though i havent seen her doing ANYTHING related to house chores at home) and always comments on what ever i do.
I can never get my free time during weekends or during week days after returning from office. My husband if i tell all this never cares and always says that his mom is right.
Because of such comparisions and comments i just avoid as much as possible being with them. But still at times it is inevitable to avoid.
And MIL always wants me to be in the kitchen serving her daughter and her. I have been all the work that she told me to do . But still if st times i am not well or not able to do what she said she starts complaining and scolding me in front of my husband and others giving them an impression that i am not listening to her. This makes me feel hurt a lot.
My husband never tells or asks his mom why she is doing like this to me (his wife). Sister in law is the root cause of all this as she indirectly tells something to her mom and she starts to pressure me with lots of work.
I never ask a single paisa from my husband as i too earn enough. After coming home or at home i am just a SLAVE. and i am treated this way by everyone (including my husband)
Nightmare Mother-In-Law

You either have a gift for dispute resolution or you have been blessed with a gem of a mother-in-law. If you are as countless others who have attempted to resolve issues only to be rewarded in frustration, this article won't make her go away, but it will offer survival methods and suggestions for dealing with the stresses of such a relationship.
There are as many types of nightmare mother-in-laws as there are types of people, but most fall into, or are a combination of, the following: the Control Freak, the Joker, the Perfectionist, the Judge, the Cash Concerned, the Baby Badger, the Snoop, the One-Upper, the Liar, the Hypochondriac, the Busy Body, the Dramatic, the Clinger, the Copycat, the Ex Obsessed, the Attention Hog, or the Cold Cookie.
Nightmare Mother-In-Law #1 The Control Freak: Your mother-in-law's suggestions are plentiful and incessant. She either flat-out commands you to do things her way, or she pretends to be nonchalant about whether or not she is trying to pressure you, but you still feel her push. Whether she wants to plan your wedding or tries to micromanage your home, this kind of mother-In-Law leaves stress in her wake. A helpful suggestion is one thing, but this lady wants your life done her way!

Me and my husband were recently at a party. The couple that invited us are quite older than us and there we met the hostess's brother. A 67 year old retired restaurant owner. At first he seemed like a quite, polite, regular kind of guy. We all sat at the living room just chatting and he slowly started to change.
Every time one person would offer his opinion about the topic in discussion [it didn't matter what that was] he was always the one to contradict it, and not only that, he had to make everyone else agree with him that his opinion was the correct one, or else 3 days later we would still be there.
On the way home, my husband and I ,instead of enjoying the ride alone, all we did was talk about the previously mentioned gentleman.A 30-minute drive was dedicated to him, and a lot more time since that day also. Probably the rest of the party did the same thing.
Since that day I couldn't stop wondering , what if we were related? what if he was my father, or worse my father-in-law. My husband's father died when my husband was only 2 years old, so I never experienced that kind of a relationship, but I come from a family where in-laws are treated with great respect and patience. So I would have to put up with that kind of attitude for ever, if the fates wanted a good laugh and I had married his son? Knowing me I seriously doubt it. If that had happened I would be typing on my 1 hour break, from a women's correctional facility, because I would have strangled him.
I saw my friend today, the hostess of the party, and during the conversation i couldn't help but ask how her brother was doing. Well it is a good thing my husband was picking up our daughter because , I never would have made it in time.
Once she started she wouldn't stop. The problem list was over a mile long. His children,1 son and 2 daughters, and their spouses all have problems with him. The oldest daughter and her husband want almost nothing to do with him. When they got married he gave them as a present one of his 3 restaurants,no strings attached, or so they thought. But 11 years since then even if they wish to change the light-bulbs he has to pick the brand, so they are not too friendly with him lately."what took them so long " I was wondering, while I was nodding my head at every word she was uttering.
Needless to say that the other 2 kids have problems with their father as well. They are lawyers, but according to daddy dearest, not very good. They don't make enough money, they don't have important clients" They probably don't even comp their hair right according to him" I thought.
His poor sister left, feeling bad for her brother ,being treated unfairly by his children and all, and I couldn't help but wonder "Would she feel the same if she was one of the children, or even worse, one of the spouses?"
